ERP Pricing and Business Software Costs

ERP pricing has two halves, and the one on the price list is usually the smaller. Cloud systems charge per user per month; the project that sets the system up, moves your data and trains your staff is billed separately and typically costs one to three times the first-year software fee.

ERP pricing per user

Cloud systems are priced per user per month, with higher tiers for more modules, and on-premise systems are sold as a one-time license per user instead. Some vendors do not publish a price list at all, so their figures come from implementation partners' quotes.

Implementation is billed on top of the licenses and sized by the number of users. Each custom integration is priced on its own, and your own staff's time is a cost that belongs in the budget too. The ERP implementation calculator adds licenses for your user count to the project and lets you switch on integrations and staff time.

Budget for the overrun

Recent industry surveys found 30% to 33% of ERP projects over budget, so hold 10% to 20% in reserve. After go-live, cloud subscriptions renew every year at the same per-user rates, and on-premise licenses carry annual maintenance, usually 18% to 22% of the license price.
